Welder in Training

Sponsored by the Bath Iron Works, welding training in Lewiston paid women $7 a day to learn, the equivalent of $100 today. They tried to find women who were not already working, so as not to compete with existing employers.

This appears to be a promotional image underscoring the ability of women to remain feminine while welding.
