The back of this photograph is inscribed: "National Guardsmen on Guard at Androscroggin Bridge, Auburn, Maine, where 3,000 shoe workers from 19 plants are on strike. Trial of six of their leaders on contempt charges were post-poned and the situation remained peaceful but unchanged."
