Lucienne Doyon was still a teenager when she wore these welder's coveralls at Bath Iron Works. She was 19 years old when the war ended. She married Robert S. Goodwin when he returned from the Army in October 1945. He died ten months later, making Lucienne a 20 year-old widow. She never remarried.
The coverall's thick leather protects workers from sharp edges and flying sparks. Pockets and loops hold useful tools within easy reach. The stains and creases indicate that this outfit has seen hard use.
